Expressive Arts in the Parks

Let's harness the power of nature and creativity to find new perspectives of ourselves and our lives in beautiful Prospect Park!

This workshop will include group and individual work, all in a supportive, kind, welcoming environment. We will begin by grounding ourselves and tuning in to see where we are right now. After some clarifying writing, we will take what has emerged and expand on it through exploration of the natural areas around us. Then we will come back together, share our experience (sharing is always optional and low-pressure) and follow up with more writing and some drawing. Final reflections will take help to bridge the morning's experience with our re-entry to daily lives. Remember, no art skills, confidence, or experience is expected or needed. Come as you are right now - you will be welcomed!

These workshops are designed to stimulate your imagination, expand your self-awareness, and awaken your authentic voice. From mindful reflections to hands-on art-making, each experience is an opportunity to connect with your inner wisdom and discover new possibilities. And of course, have fun!

This workshop is open to individuals 16 and over of all skill levels and backgrounds. No prior art experience is needed or expected—just an open heart, a curious mind, and a willingness to embrace the transformative power of expressive arts. This is a process-based experience, with no critique or judgment of any artistic expression. 

There will be some walking and sitting, and participants are encouraged to bring water and if they wish, something to sit on such as a blanket or camping chair. All workshop materials will be provided, however, if you have a journal you wish to use for the writing portion, you are welcome to bring it with you.

About pricing: Expressive Arts NYC is committed to offering an equitable pricing model. We encourage registrants to choose the level that best reflects their current situation. We work on the honor system and trust our partipants to choose fairly. 

The investment level, for those who have expendable income, will support our growth and our ability to offer lower cost options. 

The supportive level, for those for whom the investment level is a stretch, will also contribute to growth and lower cost options. 

The sustaining level is the market rate for this workshop. 

The low cost level is for those who have limited expendable income and less secure financial situations.
